I'm not sure what year this one came out, but I know my best friend had some of the songs on 45's. We especially enjoyed the song "Let Your Daddy Sleep on Sunday Morning" because his Dad was a preacher!
You may have heard some of these songs scattered around the Internet, particularly the song "The Bathroom" (which asks the musical question, "Do you have a bathroom problem in your house?") These are some fun songs and stories, and even though it says 30 children's songs on the album I only counted 27 tracks. Oh well. I couldn't get the back cover to come out very well, so here's what it says about the songs presented here. The ellipses (You know, the dot dot dot's) are theirs:
...30 original songs and stories...a "fun" adventure in learning and understanding. The music and lyrics of Selma Rich Brody are chock-full of happy and positive messages for every day...performed in a tuneful, entertaining and motivating manner. It's the nicest way to give your youngster a real head start...and a lifetime of memories, too!
I don't really understand why the word "fun" is in quotation marks. Perhaps this piece was written by Finger Quotin' Margo of "Apartment 3-G" fame. (Find out more about her and other wacky comic strip commentary at http://joshreads.com/ and tell them Tony at "Way Out Junk" sent you!)

This album had a severe impact on my life. I am currently writing a short story based on "just do it, and just do it right, and do it right away."

I have been looking for an electronic file of this for YEARS. Thanks a lot! Great album, I am 30 and still remember most of the songs from when I was a child.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I can't believe this album is on the internet! I must've listened to this hundreds of time growing up in the 60's. I couldn't have told you what the album cover looked like nor could I recall any other song other than "Let Your Daddy Sleep on Sunday Morning", but when I saw the album cover and listened to the album again today, all the tunes have come back! Thank you, thank you!!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm looking for another children's compilation album that had such songs on it as "Pony Boy" and the now politically incorrect song "Little Black Sambo". I think it might have even had "Sweet Bessie from Pike" on it. Anyone have any clue as to what album that was? Thanks. ~Terry
I too have been searching for YEARS for this! I finally had my mom dig it out of the basement and was SO excited to get it...until I opened up the jacket and the wrong record was stored inside :( I am hoping to find the mp3 files on the internet...-Lauren
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you!!! I have been looking for this for years.
