I couldn't find a date on this one, but I'm expecting it came out in the early 70's. Subtitled "Children's Sing-and-Learn Introduction to Words and How to Use Them", this album covers a lot of territory including synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, plurals, onomatopeia, and other word forms. While it's not as catchy as the Grammar Rock songs, it is brought to you by those swingers at Peter Pan Records, so it's still pretty cool!
Here's the track list:
- What's the Good Word
- With a Wink and a Nod
- The Dic-Dic-Dictionary
- A-E-I-O-U
- Sing a Song of Synonyms
- Antonym Island
- It Sounds Alike
- Ding Dong Dinging
- The Inside Outside Words
- The Plurals
- I've Got a Good Dog (Comparisons)
- Mister Big Word
- The Goodbye Song
- What's the Good Word (Reprise)
AWESOME!! Wow - I'm a kid in the '70s again. Thank you so much for these super cool shares. Yay!
ReplyDeleteMy brothers and I used to listen to this record at night before we went to sleep. I believe it came out in the late 60s. I still have most of the lyrics to the songs memorized. It taught me a lot about language at a young age. Great memories!!!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I am excited to find this! My sister and I listened to it growing up in the 70s and just loved it. Can't wait to loved it.... it will be happily familiar!
ReplyDeleteI had a different album cover if I remember correctly, mine was black & white & had sillouette drawings illustrating the people & words. Great find! thanks so much
ReplyDeleteI had this album!! Crazy memories...I hardly remember listening to it - I can barely hear the memories...but in a few minutes it will all come back. Probably mid 70's when I had it.
