As you might expect, this being the New York City Opera Children's Chorus, you're not going to get any crazy renditions of songs here (although it is sort of odd to hear songs like "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" sung so reverently). Enjoy!
Here's the track list:
- Uncle Sam's Farm
- Go Tell Aunt Rhody
- Meshivotzi No-otz (Good Little Baby)
- Ol' Dan Tucker
- Shenandoah
- The Singing School
- Wayfaring Stranger
- The Blue Tail Fly
- La Truya (The Group)
- Gentle Annie
- Great Grandad
- The Farmer Is the Man
- The Erie Canal
- Simple Gifts
- Stars Shining By and By
I actually had the "Alley Cat Dance" on another Pickwick Productions record called SING AND OTHER SONGS FROM THE TV SHOW SESAME STREET ("Sing" was originally going to be the show's title song). My favourite Pickwick record, though, was called 15 WALT DISNEY FAVOURITES, and contained the songs from SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARVES and PINOCCHIO; these were actually songs taken from an episode of the Lawrence Welk show - you can hear tap dancing on the record if you listen carefully - featuring Disney favourites with the exception of three that were not in PINOCCHIO or SNOW WHITE and may actually have been composed for the album. These are "Jiminy Cricket is the Name," "Monstro the Whale," and "Snow White." If not actually composed for the album, these may have been songs rejected for use in the movies mentioned above, and chosen for the album by someone who didn't realize this.
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI used to have this when I was a kid, and I've been searching for one of the songs for ages...
