Here's another one of those albums with songs from a number of sources and a strange random looking cover ("So, Kid, move that candy cane over a little to the right. No, MY right!"). There's some pretty good songs here though. This also scores points for being my new favorite version of "Big Rock Candy Mountain". See if you like it as much as I do.
Here's the track list:
- Land of Lemonade and Lollipops
- Big Rock Candy Mountain
- Back Home (Way Back Home)
- Marching Song (Children's Marching Song)
- Little Dutch Boy & Little Dutch Girl
- Dem Dry Bones
- Little Red Schoolhouse
- Stasha Pandowski
- Billy Boy
- Grandfather Clock
"Staushu Pandowski" had been a single by Julius LaRosa on RCA. I remember it appearing on at least one other children's record in the early 60s.
ReplyDeleteBy any chance, do you have "Sing A Song of Presidents" (the album, not the 78?) My old LP is hammered, from back when I was 7 years old.
I am so very, very grateful that I was able to find this via your site...you have no idea how long I've been looking for it!!!! And to be able to have it now forever...it just makes my heart smile!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!!!
Thank you, thank you!
This record is the embodiment of my childhood and my children’s childhoods. I had the album since I was 2 years old, and it was my favorite. I even listened to it as a teenager. When my children were born, I always played this for them and they danced around the living room just as I did when I was little. A number of years ago, my album was spirited away by an unscrupulous family member, and my children (who are now grown themselves) and I never thought we would hear these songs again. But here they are! Now we will always have it and be able to pass it down even more generations. Thank you soooooo much! And thank you to my Daughter who found your site!
ReplyDeleteYou made my day!!!! My Mom sang "Land of Lemonade and Lollipops" to all 4 of us as kids and we have all sang it to our children as well..... I have a good friend who has a daughter with special needs and this is her favorite song, so I cannot tell you how exciting it is to find it!!!! This song will be passed down for many more generations to enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!
This is so great I have been looking for this for years, tried to buy it in Buffalo but the record was sooooo scratched it wouldn't even play. Excellent sound! I miss the pops in music :)
ReplyDeleteI had these songs on cassette along with the old gray mare and my merry olds mobile. I really want that album again and would take it in vinyl, cassette or anyway I can get it. It said it was by peter pan kids. Can you please, pretty please, help me locate it?

I searched for this album for many years. I am so stoked that you found it and put it on your website. Now my kids and grandkids know where I got my versions of the songs they have been tortured with for so many years! Thanks a bunch!
