Children's Treasury of Batman Musical Stories

Here's the perfect companion to the Superman Musical Stories album I shared earlier. This one features two songs each for Batman, Robin, the Joker, the Penguin, and the Batmobile. The record credits the group "The Merriettes" as the artist on these songs. Anybody here familiar with them? Here's another question. On the song "Ho Ho Ho the Joker's Wild", is it just me or does the intro sound exactly like the theme to Casper the Friendly Ghost? And if so, why??

Anyway, here it is. Enjoy!

Here's the track list:
  1. Look Out for the Batman
  2. Ho Ho Ho the Joker's Wild
  3. The Wonderful Boy Wonder
  4. The Penguin
  5. Here Comes the Batmobile
  6. It's the Batman
  7. The Joker Gets Trumped
  8. There Goes Robin
  9. A Penguin Caper
  10. The Battiest Car Around

My 3 year old daughter is gonna flip over this. Batman and "that other one, what's his name?" are her favorite "supers". Thanks.

Many thanks for this awesome post! :)

After listening to both, I think also that the intro of Ho Ho Ho... is the same as in Caspar. Don't know why...

Thanks again,

Damn! I had this album and played the crap out of it on my little
portable GE record player. Thanks for bringing back memories!

Wow !!!

1966 - a little Montreal boy who's nuts about Batman goes on vacation with his parents "all the way" to Plattsburgh, New York, and is taken to Woolworth's... a Batman wonderland lies all around him! Toys, costumes, books, records... all things unseen in Montreal.

I still remember that moment SO clearly! Among the treasures were Batman 45 rpm records, each in its own picture sleeve. I begged for those, and my parents bought them for me. Forty-one years later, I still have the three 45s, and two of the sleeves. The sleeves used the same pictures as the ones on the album cover. They were actually cut-outs of the pictures, so they didn't fare too well. All those little sharp points and curves, you know.

Thanks so much for the memories, and for allowing me to hear these songs again. This is great stuff, and your blog is wonderful!

Keep up the great work.

I can't believe others know of and cherish this record like I do! I just went through making mp3's of three of the tracks...and here they ALL are here....ha!

Wish I knew more about the "group" The Merriettes. I especially love all the musical breaks in between the verses. Very sample-able.

I'll check out the Superman one too.

I have a 45 of the two tunes "Here Comes The Batmobile" and "The Battiest Car Around", neat to listen to a longer cut of Batmobile tune from what I heard before.
